A very funny story how the name came to be!
A special friend of mine, Patrick, wrote an amazing ref. for me and this is what he called me and I thought that's it, we are naming the bnb The Perle mesta- " Hostess with the mostest"
This is my lovely 18th century ceritified historical home in the heart of Queens Village area of the city, bordering Penns Landing, and Society Hill. The looks of a post card, picture cobblestone streets , tree lined and historical homes. I was told I am The Perle Mesta of Philadelphia. Pa. I have lived in the city 20 years, and I have owned my home 13 years. I began restorations the first day I spent here, and they are still ongoing, My brother says by the time Im finished I will have to start over again, (he is so supportive, lol.,) he could be correct but the journey is wonderful!
There is no better place to be than Queen Village, the safest area, walking distance to Penns Landing , water front, to all of Philadelphia tourist sites and history. We have fantastic places to eat , the Italian market, Asian market, the infamous South street, Everything is here in Queens Village. It is very friendly with the locals. We love having visitors to our area. You will not be surprised to see horse drawn carriages passing the street with curious tourists from all over the world.
The home is very large, 12 ft cielings, the architecture exceptional , 4 5 ft high Wissahickon marble fireplaces. loads of Art and collectibles from of my travels all over the world. The bedrooms are clean , w/hardwood floors, a walk in closets private baths. The home is quiet and spacious , plenty of areas privacy. There is plenty to explore with more than 5500 sq. ft of living space, We have a wonderful solarium and 2 private courtyards and large garden is a walk in heaven with specialty trees and the birds sing till your hearts desire. As well I am in the process of installing an indoor heated endless pool and spa!!! plenty of parking! When noted that breakfast is served it will be served from 8 am to 10 am. There are a total of 5 bedrooms to choose from , please inquire for seperate prices of rooms.
Additionally for weekly stays, available is a carriage house apartment with one bedroom.. It was believed to be originally maids quarters.. Originally the first owner of the estate was a wealthy French Heiress in 1849. There was also and undergound horse stable which is now where a pool will be placed!
